At “Les Élevages du Sous-Bois” (Breedings of the Underwood) dogs are an integral part of our lives – we raise them as part of our family on our farm in St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, 20 minutes North of Quebec City.

From birth, our breeds learn to socialize with children and the many animals that share the grounds; horses, cats, hens, rabbits, guinea pigs and a large variety of birds.

Our breeding company began 15 years ago when we acquired our first Golden Retriever from the highly regarded breeder, Mr. Maurice Légaré of “Élevage Superbe des Savanes.”

Soon, our family expanded to include the sensitive and noble Bernese Mountain Dogs – a breed we imported from distinct European lineages. Nowadays, our Bernese Mountain reproductive dogs are certified by the “Orthopedic Foundation for Animals” to ensure the condition of their hips and elbows and their eyes are tested by CERF.

Our success with the Bernese lines led us to round out our bunch with the Welsh Corgi – a very special breed whose small stature by no means reflects their big hearts. All of our Corgis are subjected to DNA Analysis tests for Von Willebrand‚s disease.

At “Les Élevages du Sous-Bois” our primary concern is "quality and temperament" – two attributes we’re sure you’ll look for in the dog you choose to welcome in to your family.
